This course introduces the student to the critical analysis of environmental information and the application of mass and energy balances to address environmental problems from a perspective of civil engineering.
Objectives
- Identify the chemical, biological and physical processes that regulate aquatic, atmospheric and terrestrial systems.
- Recognize the principal strategies to remove contaminants from air, water and soils.
- Formulate mass and energy balances for conservative and non-conservative substances.
- Perform preliminary risk assessment to human health.
- Identify Chilean environmental regulation.
